The role of a distributor:
A distributor is a person or organisation that represents the editor's product. They help the editor to sell and promote their magazine to retailers so they can be bought by the consumers.
As well as representing the editor's magazine the distributor also as to manage all the services like the printers and the logistics while managing the money that is made.
What distributor would I choose for my magazine?
I would choose my magazine to be distributed by Market Force. I chose to go with them because firstly, their website is modern and easy to use so suggesting their company will be professional and easy for me to use when distributing my magazine. As well as that some of their magazine clients are well known such as: Hello! magazine this makes me think that they're good at distributing as people know this magazine so reassuring me that they can make my magazine as recognised as their other clients. I also chose to use this distributor as they only have two music magazines in their clients (rock magazines) this then tells me there is a gap in the market as they don't distribute any pop magazines. This is good because by them having two other music magazines this tells me they are experienced in the music industry however they don't have a pop magazine so making my product unique. By my magazine being unique to them this would make Market Force want to distribute my magazine. They would want to distribute my magazine so to reach a wider audience to sell to and make more money from the advertising. Overall, I don't think my magazine would represent them as a company as they distribute a vast variety of magazines so no genre could represent them however my magazine is different to what they usually make as they distribute magazines aimed at 20+ whereas mine is 12+. This difference enforces the wider audience they could sell to if they distributed my magazine. I think the only other magazine close to mine is the Hello! magazine as they focus on gossip and celebrities which my magazine touches on.
Why distribute my product?
Market Force only has two other magazines which are rock. This shows me that Market Force understands and has worked with the music industry. However, I don't think they will have understood my target audience as most of there current magazine clients focus on the 20+ whereas mine is the 12+. This could be a problem as the distributors don't fully understand the best way to target my audience so my magazine won't be as successful as it could be. On the other hand, Market Force does distribute Hello! magazine which focuses on gossip and celebrities. My magazine is a bit like this and Hello! magazine has done well to become a house hold name. This then gives my magazine an advantage as Market Force knows how to distribute and market magazines a bit like mine to make them successful. So if Market Force can make my magazine as successful then they can reach a wider audience so to sell advertisement and make money for themselves. By my product being similar to the popular Hello! magazine but being slightly different in focusing on popular music it makes my magazine potentially overall wanted and liked by consumers. This could be a good thing as people will want to read it so making money. In general, the company doesn't have any reviews but I think it has a professional and good reputation as it represents 30% of the magazine market so they must be reputable. This is reassuring as it tells me that this company is experienced in what they do so can maximise my product to it's full potential. I chose to use this company as my magazine is mainstream and so is the distributors as they sell to many high street chains such as: WHSmiths and Morrison's.
Magazine's they already work with:
This product that they have worked with focuses on the middle aged women about fashion and beauty. My magazines fits into this as it to is also a bit about these topics showing the distributors are knowledgeable about these areas so my magazine would fit.
This magazine is targeted at the youth and my magazine would fit with this as it too is targeted at the same age range.
My magazine would fit with this magazine as they both cover celebrities, gossip and beauty plus both are aimed at females.
This magazine is a little more sophisticated than mine however we both cover fashion and looking pretty so my magazine would fit as I also cover these areas.
Lastly, this magazine is closest to mine as we both target women and cover celebrities, fashion and gossip.

My magazine would be advertised on the distributor's website plus my own:
It would feature on TV, radio adverts and on billboards.
Links to my magazine could be found on all social media sites and my magazine would have it's own page where we would target audience of the right age.
People could subscribe to my magazine and it could be bought online and in all major high street shops like: WHSmiths and Morrison's.
QR codes will also be made and feature on other newspapers, magazines and CD covers
Lastly, my magazine would sponsor different sports and gigs where it would be advertised around the arena.
